Challenge

ABESCO's website no longer reflected the organisation. It looked dated, but the biggest frustration was the lack of control: even publishing a news item required a developer or external agency.

Solution

We built a new website on Nimbu, with manageable content types for expertise, projects, news, training, jobs and the asbestos lab. We also digitised sample analysis requests and built separate flows for job applications and training registrations.

Result

The website is a working tool again. ABESCO can manage content, attract candidates, follow up on training and receive sample analysis requests digitally. We then added Excel and Word automation to reduce the manual work needed for official documents.

The brief

ABESCO is a team of independent experts in safety, environment and asbestos. Their previous website could no longer represent that range of expertise. ABESCO could not update pages, post news or publish new content without going through an external party.

For an organisation that regularly shares news, vacancies, training and practical information, a website like that quickly becomes an obstacle.

More than a new look

There was also room for improvement behind the scenes. Sample analysis requests started with a document that customers had to download, complete and bring in on paper. ABESCO then had to retype the information.

The brief went beyond modernising the website. ABESCO needed a digital foundation they could manage themselves that also reduced manual work.

Our approach

Getting the structure right first

ABESCO offers many closely related services. Occupational safety, asbestos, environment and safety coordination are separate areas of expertise, but customers often start with a specific situation: a project, an obligation, an analysis, a training course or a workplace problem.

We created a structure where expertise, projects, news, jobs, training and the asbestos lab each have their own place while remaining logically connected.

A website ABESCO can manage themselves

With Nimbu, ABESCO can publish and update content without a developer. News, projects, team information, vacancies, training and expertise content all sit in the CMS. The website can now change with the organisation.

Employer branding and forms

An employer story with real people

We built a full careers section, with the story of ABESCO's culture, testimonials, vacancies and application forms with CV uploads. We also made three short employer branding videos, each starting from a real photo of an ABESCO team member at work.

The videos show the journey from a childhood dream to a real working environment. That suits roles that are technical and serious, yet take people to unexpected places and challenging projects.

Forms that save retyping

For the asbestos lab, we created a digital sample analysis request form. Customers enter their details online, add sample references and receive confirmation. A printable preview connects the digital request to the physical samples.

Training and registrations on their own site

ABESCO can manage training content, practical information, scheduled sessions, locations and available places. Visitors can register directly for a session, and the site handles sessions that are fully booked.

Continuing with automation after launch

After the website, we moved on to internal processes. ABESCO works with analyses, home visits and official documents. This involved a lot of manual work: gathering data, processing records, extracting information from Excel, assembling Word documents and making sure everything ended up in the right place.

We improved their familiar Excel and Word workflow. In Excel, we added automation to import records, process data more safely and export images of records faster. In Word, we automated the assembly of official documents, including placeholders, attachments, summaries and record images.

What this delivers

More control

ABESCO can publish news, update pages, manage vacancies, show training courses and add projects themselves. Routine website changes no longer depend on an external party.

Less duplicate work

Sample analysis requests now start online. Customers enter their own details, including sample references. That removes some of the retyping from the process.

Smarter documents

Analyses, home visits and records can be turned into official documents more quickly. Automation makes the existing Excel and Word processes faster and more reliable.
