Challenge
In the complex world of laboratories, hospitals, and the pharmaceutical and food industries, monitoring quality is not an option but a necessity. Bitos came to us looking for a structured way to renew their existing product.
This time not a ready-made solution but a software engineering journey completely tailored to the client's pace. The existing core application had to remain operational without interruptions. The existing system was carefully mapped to seamlessly integrate with new technology, ready for modern web requirements. The need for flexible deployment was also taken into account. With a mix of on-premise installations and a centrally managed server installation, ease of deployment and configuration management were important aspects to focus on.
Approach
In the initial phase of every custom project, we pay a lot of attention to creating a good foundation for collaboration and try to bring our clients along in a story of iterative and incremental development. This was no different.
Progress was shared weekly and priorities were reviewed to ensure we stayed on the same wavelength. The client always had the final say and could indicate when specific milestones would be rolled out.
To tackle the biggest risks first, a high-level analysis of the current situation was done and a path was mapped out towards a new application with the desired new features, in the form of user stories. Technical uncertainties were addressed early by validating the chosen technologies in a POC.
Result
A flexible collaboration and equally flexible application, completely tailored to the client.
With a client who holds quality at heart, the bar was set high to deliver an application that supports this value. Mission accomplished!
